This video demonstrate Hysteroscopic Instruments Demonstration Lecture by Dr R K Mishra at World Laparoscopy Hospital. Understanding hysteroscopic instrument is essential to perform safe laparoscopy. Hysteroscopy can be defined as the examination of the uterine cavity with an endoscope inserted through the cervix with the purpose of diagnosis or treatment of possible abnormalities.[1][2] In the recent years, developments in the medical technology made it possible to perform a comprehensive examination of uterine cavity without preliminary cervix dilation and use of anaesthesia, thus greatly expanding the range of available hysteroscopic procedures [1]. Modern equipment allows performing of outpatient hysteroscopy, also known as office hysteroscopy, which is not limited to diagnosis and includes treatment of minor pathologies. This, however, doesn't replace hysteroscopic surgery whose objective is treating major uterine abnormalities in the operating room. Hysteroscopy employs a special kind of endoscope called hysteroscope that enables: Illumination of the uterine cavity by transmitting light from a light source; Visual control of the procedure via an integrated lens-telescope system connected to a camera and imaging equipment; Insertion and operation of hysteroscopy instruments to perform the necessary treatment; Passage of the distension medium into and out of the uterine cavity.

Hysteroscopic Instruments Demonstration – Lecture by Dr. R. K. Mishra at World Laparoscopy Hospital

Advancements in minimally invasive surgery have transformed the way gynecological conditions are diagnosed and treated. Among these innovations, hysteroscopy has become an essential procedure for examining and managing diseases inside the uterus. At the renowned World Laparoscopy Hospital, a comprehensive lecture and live demonstration of hysteroscopic instruments was delivered by Dr. R. K. Mishra, a globally respected pioneer in laparoscopic and robotic surgical training. The session was designed to help surgeons and gynecologists understand the instruments used in hysteroscopy and their practical applications in clinical practice.

During the lecture, Dr. Mishra explained the fundamental principles of Hysteroscopy, a minimally invasive technique that allows doctors to visualize the uterine cavity using a thin telescope-like instrument called a hysteroscope. This procedure is widely used for diagnosing and treating conditions such as uterine polyps, fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, intrauterine adhesions, and congenital uterine anomalies. By demonstrating each instrument step-by-step, Dr. Mishra helped participants gain clarity about the structure, function, and safe handling of hysteroscopic tools.

One of the key highlights of the lecture was the detailed explanation of the Hysteroscope, the primary instrument used in hysteroscopic procedures. Dr. Mishra discussed its components, including the telescope, sheath, light source connection, and working channels that allow the insertion of operative instruments. He emphasized the importance of selecting the correct diameter and angle of the hysteroscope to ensure optimal visualization and patient safety.

The demonstration also included various operative instruments such as grasping forceps, scissors, biopsy forceps, and resectoscopes. These tools are used for removing polyps, cutting adhesions, and performing targeted biopsies of suspicious tissues. Dr. Mishra explained how these instruments work in coordination with distension media to maintain a clear view inside the uterine cavity. By showing real instruments used in operating rooms, he helped participants connect theoretical knowledge with practical surgical skills.

Another important aspect of the lecture was the discussion on safety and precision. Dr. Mishra highlighted the importance of proper instrument handling, maintaining clear visualization, and monitoring fluid balance during hysteroscopic procedures. These precautions help prevent complications such as uterine perforation or fluid overload. His emphasis on safe surgical practices reflected the educational philosophy of World Laparoscopy Hospital, which focuses on patient safety and surgical excellence.

The lecture was highly interactive, allowing trainees from different parts of the world to ask questions and clarify their doubts about hysteroscopic techniques. Through detailed explanations and practical insights, Dr. Mishra ensured that participants gained confidence in using hysteroscopic instruments effectively. His teaching style combined clinical experience with modern surgical education methods, making the session both informative and engaging.

In conclusion, the hysteroscopic instruments demonstration by Dr. R. K. Mishra at World Laparoscopy Hospital was an invaluable learning experience for surgeons and gynecologists seeking to enhance their skills in minimally invasive gynecological surgery. By providing a clear understanding of the instruments and techniques involved in Hysteroscopy, the lecture contributed significantly to improving surgical competence and patient care in modern gynecology.
