Watch this surgical video demonstrating the advanced technique of performing Cholecystectomy and Appendectomy using the same port. This innovative approach ensures minimal scarring, faster recovery, and excellent patient outcomes.

Patient with symptomatic Cholelithiasis and also appendicitis was encountered , planned to proceed both procedure with laparoscopic apporach and we did try with same port of lap cholecystectomy to know about difficulty to surgeons about the approach to appendix. as it was difficult with length and ergonomics to angle to target we approach for . Initial approach to lap cholecystectomy was as usual . We do recommend to this approach due to technical difficulty however surgery was completely safely done and patient was discharge with no any post operative complication and no any followup complains.

Cholecystectomy and Appendectomy by the Same Port at World Laparoscopy Hospital

Minimally invasive surgery has revolutionized the field of general surgery, significantly reducing patient recovery time, postoperative pain, and hospital stays. Among the innovations in laparoscopic surgery, performing cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) and appendectomy (appendix removal) through the same port represents a remarkable advancement in surgical efficiency and patient care. At the World Laparoscopy Hospital, this approach is being practiced with precision, setting new benchmarks in minimally invasive procedures.

The Concept of Single-Port Surgery

Traditional laparoscopic procedures often require multiple incisions to access the surgical site. However, single-port laparoscopic surgery (SPLS) utilizes a single incision, typically at the umbilicus, to introduce all surgical instruments. This approach minimizes scarring, reduces postoperative pain, and promotes faster recovery. Performing two major procedures — cholecystectomy and appendectomy — through the same port is a testament to the advanced skill and expertise of surgeons at World Laparoscopy Hospital.

Advantages for Patients

  1. Minimal Scarring: A single small incision reduces visible scars and improves cosmetic outcomes.

  2. Reduced Pain: Fewer incisions mean lower postoperative discomfort and less need for analgesics.

  3. Faster Recovery: Patients can often resume normal activities sooner than with conventional multi-port surgery.

  4. Lower Risk of Complications: With careful technique, the risk of wound infection and hernia formation is significantly reduced.

Surgical Technique

The procedure begins with a small incision at the umbilicus, through which a specialized port is inserted. The surgeon uses high-definition laparoscopic instruments to carefully dissect and remove the gallbladder and appendix sequentially. Advanced laparoscopic cameras provide a clear view of the abdominal cavity, allowing precise movements and safe dissection. The entire operation is completed without the need for additional incisions, maintaining the principles of minimally invasive surgery.

Expertise at World Laparoscopy Hospital

The World Laparoscopy Hospital in Gurugram has pioneered multiple single-port and advanced laparoscopic procedures. Surgeons here are trained to handle complex cases with utmost safety and efficiency. Combining cholecystectomy and appendectomy in a single port requires not only technical proficiency but also careful patient selection, preoperative planning, and intraoperative precision — all hallmarks of the hospital’s surgical program.

Patient Experience

Patients undergoing this dual procedure report high satisfaction due to minimal scarring, shorter hospital stays, and rapid return to normal life. The hospital’s focus on patient-centered care ensures that every step, from preoperative counseling to postoperative follow-up, is handled with professionalism and empathy.

Conclusion

Performing cholecystectomy and appendectomy through the same port is a significant advancement in minimally invasive surgery. The World Laparoscopy Hospital continues to push the boundaries of laparoscopic innovation, offering procedures that combine safety, efficiency, and excellent cosmetic outcomes. For patients requiring gallbladder and appendix surgery, this approach represents a state-of-the-art option that exemplifies the future of surgical care.
