This video demonstrate endometrioma surgery done by Dr R K Mishra at World Laparoscopy Hospital. Ovarian endometrioma is a benign, estrogen-dependent cyst found in women of reproductive age. Endometriomas usually present as a pelvic mass arising from growth of ectopic endometrial tissue within the ovary. An endometrioma may be associated with symptoms of endometriosis (eg, pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, and dyspareunia) or identified at the time of evaluation for a pelvic examination or USG. Laparoscopic Surgery is treatment of choice.

Endometrioma Surgery by Laparoscopy at World Laparoscopy Hospital

Endometrioma, commonly known as “chocolate cysts,” is a type of ovarian cyst formed due to endometriosis, a condition where endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus. These cysts can cause chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and menstrual irregularities, significantly impacting a woman’s quality of life. With advancements in minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopic management has become the gold standard for treating endometriomas, offering superior outcomes compared to traditional open surgery. At the forefront of this specialized care is the World Laparoscopy Hospital (WLH), renowned globally for its excellence in laparoscopic gynecological surgery.

Laparoscopic endometrioma surgery involves the precise removal of the cyst while preserving healthy ovarian tissue. This technique minimizes trauma to surrounding structures, reduces post-operative pain, and accelerates recovery. Surgeons at WLH employ advanced laparoscopic equipment and techniques, including high-definition imaging, energy devices for meticulous dissection, and innovative methods for hemostasis and cyst wall excision. The hospital emphasizes fertility preservation, which is particularly important for patients desiring future pregnancies.

The procedure at WLH begins with a thorough preoperative evaluation, including imaging studies and hormonal assessments. Under general anesthesia, small ports are strategically placed in the abdomen, allowing the insertion of a laparoscope and surgical instruments. The endometrioma is carefully dissected from the ovarian cortex, and the cyst wall is removed to minimize recurrence. Surgeons pay special attention to avoiding damage to the ovarian reserve, employing delicate tissue-sparing techniques. In complex cases, adhesiolysis may also be performed to restore normal pelvic anatomy, addressing any associated endometriotic lesions.

One of the distinguishing aspects of endometrioma surgery at WLH is the combination of surgical expertise with patient-centered care. Surgeons not only focus on the technical aspects but also counsel patients regarding post-operative recovery, pain management, and lifestyle modifications to reduce recurrence risk. Early ambulation, minimally invasive incisions, and enhanced recovery protocols allow patients to resume daily activities quickly, often within a few days.

Furthermore, WLH serves as a global training hub for laparoscopic surgery. Surgeons from around the world visit the hospital to observe live surgeries, participate in hands-on workshops, and refine their skills in advanced endometrioma management. This focus on education ensures that the knowledge and expertise in minimally invasive gynecology continue to spread, benefiting countless patients worldwide.

In conclusion, laparoscopic endometrioma surgery at World Laparoscopy Hospital represents the pinnacle of modern gynecological care. It combines surgical precision, fertility preservation, and patient-focused recovery, offering women an effective solution for managing endometriomas. With a commitment to innovation, education, and clinical excellence, WLH continues to redefine standards in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, improving both outcomes and quality of life for patients globally.
