Usually the diagnosis of Paraumbilcal is straightforward as a swelling or bulge in or around umbilicus which expands when patient cough, sneeze or strain would suggest that suffer from an incisional hernia. Usually a scan is not necessary unless the surgeon is concerned that you developed the hernia due to enlargement of an abdominal organ.
