Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy by Two 5 mm Ports - Single Instrument Surgery
Laparoscopic Surgery Video for Gynecologists / Aug 29th, 2022 7:23 am     A+ | a-

This video demonstrates Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy by Two Ports. Only Two 5mm ports were used in this surgery. One telescopic port and only one working instrument are used. This is the first single-handed Total laparoscopic hysterectomy done by anyone before. Many surgeons are performing SILS hysterectomy. In single incision laparoscopic surgery one large 20mm-30mm port is used and in a single port three instruments are introduced. In this two-part surgery, only one operating instrument is used. Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is an alternative to conventional multiport laparoscopy. Single-access laparoscopy using a transumbilical 20 mm port does not give cosmetic benefits because the surgical incision is large in the umbilicus and increases hernia infection and morbidity of minimally invasive surgery. With two 5 mm ports, there is no chance of hernia excellent cosmetic benefits and minimum pain is observed. The patient is discharged only a few hours after surgery. This is a single-handed surgery so surgeons need good suturing skills.

Thank you for your informative video on Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy by Two 5 mm Ports - Single Instrument Surgery, I have been doing research on these topics. I keep entering sites that are supposed to have what I am searching for, only to be discouraged by the lack of what I needed. Thank you again.

Hysterectomy is the second most common surgery performed in the United States. Total laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive method of removing the uterus. This means that the surgeon makes only small cuts in the belly to "minimize" or lessen injury to the body. Your surgeon places a camera (laparoscope) through one small cut to see inside of your abdomen and uses little instruments through the other surgical cuts to do your surgery. The uterus then is removed through the vagina or one of the small cuts in your belly. Women who have a laparoscopic (minimally invasive) hysterectomy recover more quickly, have less pain, and have fewer infections than women who have one large surgical cut in the abdomen called an abdominal hysterectomy.
