Hysteroscopy lecture by Dr. R. K. Mishra.
This video demonstrates the Hysteroscopy lecture by Dr. R. K. Mishra. Hysteroscopy is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix. It allows for the diagnosis of intrauterine pathology and serves as a method for surgical intervention.
Hysteroscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the inside of the uterus using a special instrument called a hysteroscope. The hysteroscope is a thin, flexible tube with a light and a camera on the end that allows the doctor to see the inside of the uterus on a monitor.
Here are the general steps involved in performing a hysteroscopy:
Preparing the patient: The patient will be asked to empty their bladder and change into a gown. They may be given medication to help them relax and relieve pain.
Anesthesia: A local anesthetic may be applied to the cervix to reduce discomfort. In some cases, general anesthesia may be used.
Insertion of the hysteroscope: The doctor will insert the hysteroscope into the vagina and through the cervix into the uterus.
Inspecting the uterus: The doctor will examine the inside of the uterus using the hysteroscope and may use a fluid to expand the uterus for better visibility.
Biopsy or treatment: If any abnormalities are found, the doctor may take a biopsy or perform a treatment such as removing a polyp or fibroid.
Removal of the hysteroscope: The hysteroscope is removed and the patient is monitored for a short period of time before being discharged.
After the procedure, the patient may experience mild cramping and spotting for a few days. It is important to follow any post-procedure instructions provided by the doctor, such as avoiding sex or using tampons for a period of time.
