I am preparing to do my first lap hysterectomy. I want to know your advises about number, site and sizes of ports which can facilitate this first lap hysterectomy. |

Dear Dr Ahmed M Noaman Hysterectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures. Port position of hysterectomy depends on the size of uterus. In normal size uterus one port should be in umbilicus and another 7.5cm away in arch on left side and third again 7.5 cm away from second approximately 3cm medial and above the anterior superior iliac spine. You need a fourth port i.e contralateral port 3cm medial and above the right anterior superior iliac spine. Please refer my video of hysterectomy by going to the link below and you should have fair idea about port position. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbeB5FV3OI0 With regard R K Mishra |
