In access technique I have seen in YouTube the Docs sre using Visiport. Is there any benefit to use visiport to introduce the trocar. Will this technique will remove all the risk of bowel injury.

Dear Dr.Poonam Agrawal,

Visiport or Insufflation with an Optical trocar is one of the techniques used for performing laparoscopic procedures in patient with previous scarred abdomen. An incision of 1 cm long is made in the area of the abdominal wall distant from the previous scars. The littlewood forceps should be used by laparoscopic surgeon to elevate the abdomen.

The Visiport optical trocar is introduced with telescope kept inside the trocar. The optical trocar is advanced slowly through the different planes of the abdominal wall. The blade at the tip of the visiport cuts the small bit of tissue which is visible also on monitor and there is very less chance of injury to intra-abdominal organ if the surgeon is experienced.

In my opinion it is beneficial for company as it is too much expensive. I dont see any advantage if the gynecologist is experienced she can very safely introduce the simple trocar.
