Glutaraldehyde is normally used as a 1–2% solution for the cold disinfection of various types of endoscopes and probes used in laparoscopic surgery. Instruments should be left immersed in 5 litre glutaraldehyde solution at least for 6 hours. It should be used only 15 times or 15 days whatever comes earlier. If the solution become dirty and black even before it should be discarded. If the instruments are not properly cleaned and dirty blood stained instrument is emerged in cidex it will destroy the entire solution and then you have to change the cidex.
