In laparoscopic surgery creation of Pneumoperitoneum causes an increase in Increased Intracranial Pressure (ICP). The patient position, especially head down either 15 degree or 30 degree as in gynecologic laparoscopic procedures further worsens Increased Intracranial Pressure (ICP). The Trendelenburg position involves placing the patient head down and elevating the feet. It is named after German surgeon Friedrich Trendelenburg, who created the position to improve surgical exposure of the pelvic organs during surgery.

Gum-chewing has a beneficial effect on the activity of bowel functioning after surgery. There are few study which says Chewing gums has stimulatory effects on bowel function in patients undergoing cesarean section. The results of the study indicate that chewing is acceptable and inexpensive physiologic method for decreasing the time to the passage of flatus, bowel movements, and feeling of hunger in patients undergoing cesarean section.  MORE
