MBBS (December 1979): - From Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University and associated Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan (L.N.J.P.) and Govind Ballabh Pant (G.B. Pant) Hospitals. L.N.J.P. Hospital is a 1600-bedded general hospital. This is the largest hospital in city of Delhi. G.B. Pant Hospital is Super Speciality hospital having disciplines in Cardiology, Cardio-thoracic Vascular Surgery, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Gastroenterology and Gastro intestinal Surgery.
M.S. General Surgery (March 1985): - From Delhi University and associated Safdarjang Hospital. Safdarjang Hospital is a multi-speciality teaching hospital. This is the second largest hospital in Delhi with 1500 Beds.
P.G.D.H.H.M.: - (Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management) December 2005. I successfully completed this one year management diploma course from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. My study centre was Research and Referral Army Hospital, New Delhi. This is a 350-bedded state of the Art, tertiary level referral hospital of defence services in India.

HOSPITAL BASED SURGICAL EXPERIENCE
Junior Resident 1st Year: - I worked for six months at L.N.J.P. Hospital, New Delhi in Department of Orthopaedics from 1st January 1981 to 30th June 1981, six months from 1st July 1981 to 31st December 1981 in Department of General Medicine and for six months in Department of Surgery from 1st July 1982 to 31st December 1982 at St. Stephens, Hospital, New Delhi.
Junior Resident 2nd and 3rd Year: - From May 1983 to June 1985, I worked as post graduate M.S. (Gen. Surgery) student in Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi, India. Duties performed during Junior Residency, include conducting surgical OPDs, workup of admitted surgical patients, maintaining case sheets with history writing, writing operation notes, progress notes, discharge summary. To carry out orders of Senior Residents and Consultants. Working in Emergency Surgical ward. Assisting various routine and emergency surgical procedures. Teaching undergraduate medical students. Teaching nursing students. Participation in post graduate teaching programme. Three years tenure of Junior Residency which is supervised surgical training is mandatory to acquire specialist, M.S. qualifications in India.
Senior Resident: - From June 1985 to July 1988, I worked as Senior Resident in Department Of Surgery, Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi. Next to Consultant, Sr. Resident is the most responsible functionary of the department in a teaching hospital. His duties include conducting Surgical OPDs, care of admitted patients, preparation of O.T. lists, operating routine and emergency surgical patients, taking consultant on ward rounds. Teaching under graduate and post graduate medical students and completion of medical records.
I worked in the following departments in three years period of Senior Residency: -

Work Experience of Neuro Surgery: - I worked for nine months in Department of Neuro Surgery, Safdarjang Hospital from 13th June 1985 to 15th March 1986. I learnt the conservative and operative management of Head Injuries, like drainage of extra dural/ subdural haematoma, elevation of depressed skull fractures, and repair of dural tears. I also learnt treatment of hydrocephalus by ventricular taps, putting ventriculo peritoneal shunts. I assisted the consultants in Craniotomies for various conditions like gliomas, meningiomas, laminectomy for intervertebral disc prolapse.
Work Experience of General Surgery and Emergency Surgery: - I worked for two years and three months in Department Of Surgery, Safdarjang Hospital from 16th March 1986 to 31st July 1988. Posting in general surgery and emergency surgery runs concomitantly. Various procedures learnt and performed included, laparotomies, thoracotomies, for routine and emergency conditions. Operations on thyroid, breast, kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, male external genitalia. Repair of hernia, haemorrhoidectomy and other anal and perianal conditions.
Pool Officer: - From August 1988 to July 1990, I worked as pool officer in Department of General surgery at Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi. Duties of Pool Officer are similar to those of Senior Resident. He is above Senior Resident, but has to perform his duties in his absence.
Surgeon: - From August 1990 to Sept 1995. I worked as Surgeon and Clinical assistant to Dr. B.S. Rana, former Director, Professor and Head of Department of Surgery of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, at Kalra Hospital, and Shri Ram Heart Institute and Research Centre, Kirti Nagar, New Delhi. This is a 100-bedded private hospital and a referral cardiac care centre. Dr. B.S. Rana is an eminent urologist and General Surgeon. Here I managed my own cases and assisted him in his practice.
PRIVATE PRACTICE EXPERIENCE
After 10 years of hospital based job, I started private practice with the name of Onkar Clinic in the densely populated suburban area of West Delhi at Pocket-A/57A, Vikas Puri Extension, New Delhi. I got my clinic registered under Delhi Nursing Home registration Act with Directorate of Health services, Govt. of National Capital Region of Delhi. With 10 indoor beds, O.P.D. chambers, well equipped operation theatre, labour room and sterilisation room I renamed my practice as Onkar Clinic and Nursing Home.
Since March 2001, I have been working as a freelance surgeon and visiting Central Hospital, Tilak Nagar and Sehgal Nursing home, Meera Bagh, New Delhi. I am providing only day services at my clinic.
Commonly Managed Medical Conditions included patients with chest pain (M.I. patients were referred to higher centres), bronchial asthma, seizure disorders, fevers, acute gastroenteritis, acute psychosis, uncontrolled diabetes with complications, meningitis etc.
General Surgical Patients with renal/biliary tract stone disease, acute abdomen, different hernias, piles, fissures, breast lumps, (both benign and malignant) etc. were treated at Onkar Clinic and Nursing Home.
Gynaecological Service Included normal vaginal delivery, caesarean section delivery, care of new born, MTPs, Abdominal hysterectomy, tubectomy etc.
Laproscopic Surgery for cholecystectomy, appendectomy, rupture of ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cystectomy etc. was done at my clinic.
ADMINSTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
Owner and medical administrator - Onkar Clinic and Nursing (March 1993 till date):- To improve my administrative skills I successfully completed one year Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi in December 2005.
TEACHING AND RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
I have five years experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. I have also taught the nursing students. I gained this experience while working as Senior Resident and Pool Officer for five years at Safdarjang Hospital associated with University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi University, India.
