my mother is 52 year old...from several months she is having heavy blood loss...hb is currently 8...aftr body scan it was said that Endometrium-26mm ; Enlarged uterus with an anterior fibroid 23mm...and also found that by birth she has only 1 kidney and does not have any problem to it but now she has vomiting problem.....since she is haviang Endometrium 26mm is there any serious problem...pls help me |

Dear Athira While it is normal for the endometrium to thicken and shed during menstrual cycle, abnormal thickening of the uterine lining is a medical condition called endometrial hyperplasia. The phrase 'endometrial hyperplasia' refers to a complaint that is seen as an thickening with the endometrium, which is lining in the uterus. This abnormal thickening with the uterine lining occurs because of a greater creation of the estrogen within the body as well as a scarcity of progesterone. Classification of Endometrial Hyperplasia Though a lot of cases of endometrial hyperplasia are benign in nature, potential risk of endometrial carcinoma can increase if your gland-forming cells in the hyperplastic endometrium undergo certain changes during a period of time. There are two kinds of endometrial hyperplasia: Hyperplasia without atypical changes Hyperplasia with atypical changes In the event of atypical changes, cells undergo changes and turn into abnormal. This puts the affected individual with a probability of developing womb cancer. These two types are further separated into basic and complex hyperplasia without or with atypical changes. Girls that are at risk of developing thickened endometrium are: Women who have undergone menopause Ladies who don't ovulate or have irregular ovulation, that's, late periods Overweight or obese women Diabetics Women with pcos Treatment Endometrial hyperplasia or thickened endometrium may be treatable with medication most of the time. Birth control pills or hormone progesterone is generally given for treatment. Frequently hysterectomy is suggested to eliminate the affected endometrium. Often times hyperplasia can result in cancer therefore the doctor may observe you for some time, unless you undergo hysterectomy. If the woman is exhibiting symptoms associated with a thickened endometrium, a biopsy might be performed to rule out cancer.
