during hsg it was found that both the tubes are blocked. i have got abortion 2 yrs back. now doctors are suggesting it can be cured by medicine and in worst case by laproscopy. i am worried about the success rate.
i have also heard about FTR (fallopian tube recanilization) is it also a good option , what is the success rate. kindly suggest.

Dear Manish

The success of recanalization surgery depends on the place where block is there. HSG is not a confirmatory test for tubal patency. Tubal patency tests are undertaken when we suspect that there are blockages or pelvic adhesions in the fallopian tubes.

I think first you should go for diagnostic laparoscopy and tubal patency test. The presence of adhesions either around the tubes or tethering the ovaries can be easily detected by laparoscopy, and their significance assessed. Other pelvic problems such as endometriosis and fibroids will also be revealed during diagnostic laparoscopy. Tubal patency is tested by injecting methylene blue dye into the uterus through the cervix. If the tubes are healthy, the dye can be seen passing along them and escaping through the outer openings of the fallopian tubes.

Please do not hesitate if you have any other query.
