I am a physician seeking your expert advice for my father with this distal antral gastric ulcer treated with PPI and antibiotics for H Pylori, non healing for about 7 months. Do you do Laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery for this if elective surgery is the best option? The patient is from Srilanka, 78 yrs old, active life style with well controlled NIDDM and Pacemaker for heart block |

Dear Dr Dayana We offer laparoscopic surgery for distal antral gastric ulcer. Laparoscopic truncal vagotomy with gastrojejunostomy has been proved useful for the treatment of gastric outlet obstruction in peptic ulcer disease and offers the better outcome and faster recovery. Now the question is the age of your father is 78 and you should look for surgery only if medical treatment is failed. Please send us some of his investigation report so that we can draw some conclusion. |

Laparoscopic distal partial gastrectomy would be a good option for a non healing ulcer before it perforates / bleeds or turns malignant |
