I was operated bilateral laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery in Dec. 2008. The mesh implanted is really too tight and I felt something slides down in my lower abdomen after a week or so of surgery. Since than I am having pain at left groin area, testicle (which is up & forwarded now), femur bone, butt, & rectum. My left thigh was swelled by one inch more in circumference.
Unfortunately I was the 12th patient for laparoscopic & 1st patient for bilateral surgery for the Surgeon. Hence little experience.
In short, can my mesh of left side be taken out by laparoscopic method. If not than what consequences one should know of taking the mesh out by tearing abdonmenal wall? By the way one surgeon in Pakistan told me that the mesh is not only fixed tight but it is quite big though I had only a small hernia on left. Right side had no hernia but weakened hence opted for both sides.
Is any of your doctor at your hospital has ever taken the mesh out of patient after few years of laparoscopic surgery? If so, than what was the result?
I may be interested for getting my mesh out if risks are not high.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks & regards
Jamshed

Dear Jamshed Ali
Your symptoms seems to be due to nerve injury due to use to staple at some nerve point probably due to injury of genital branch of genito-femoral nerve.
With regards
Sadhana
