I started gym sessions in May, 2002. My instructor didn't tell me to wear supporter and after a month, i developed pain and a slight bulge in the upper side of my groin towards right side. I saw a surgeon in HolyFamily Hospital, New Delhi and he said that it has slightly dislocated and you can continue gym sessions but wear tight supporter. But with time, the bulging out has increased. I am a Taekwondo player and regularly go to gym and do heavy weight trainings. Yesterday, i went to AIIMS and saw a Senior Resident Doctor- Dr.Praveen. He diagnosed with right side reducible inguinal hernia and told me that open or laparoscopic treatment will be done. Can you please tell me the best place in delhi/noida(not gurgaon) for laparoscopic treatment and its cost?

Dear Mr Saif Ahmad Siddiqui
We are sorry that due to lack of information given to you by your gym trainer this inguinal hernia developed. In our opinion the best place to get this hernia repaired by laparoscopic surgery in India is World Laparoscopy Hospital, Gurgaon. Elevated intra-abdominal pressures are often responsible for the formation and recurrence of various types of hernias. Weight training has been linked to significant increases in intra-abdominal pressure. Additionally, several factors, including position, breathing control, and body mass index, have been shown to contribute to hernia recurrence post-surgery. This surgery will cost you 50,000 rupees by laparoscopy and we will use Vipro Mesh and Auto suture Tacker.

With regards
Sadhana

Dear Sir,

Please keep in mind that even after surgery we will advice you to avoid going gym for at least three month. Sudden dramatic increases in intra-abdominal pressure, such as physical straining and heavy lifting, cause a reflex contraction in the abdominal muscles, increasing the tension of the connective tissue overlying the abdominal wall. The combination of elevated pressure and stress increase the probability of hernia formation. If you have recently undergone hernia repair, heavy weight lifting will place strain on an already weakened abdominal wall; this type of activity is especially risky if the surgical wounds have not fully healed.
