My family member had gallstone problem 2 tiny gallstone, largest one about 8 mm. It was decided to go for elective surgery for gallbladder removal but before that emergency situation occurred and we could not save him. We were unaware of "World Laparoscopy Hospital". Family member was admitted to nearest hospital immediately after onset of gallbladder attack, but but Asymptotic nature resulted in diagnostic dilemma which took 10 days before surgery to rule out other possibilities. Surgeon had to go for Open Surgery, Gallbladder could not be removed due to dense adhesion with omentum & liver. Gallbladder debridement was done followed by ERCP for CBD Stentinng. But family member did not recover completely. After treating one complication another was arising within a week. Complications were hypoprotenemia(albumin suppliments 2 times), pleural effusions(ICD drain for 3 times),recurrent abscess(Pigtail Drain 2 times), Ascites(diuretics), MDR(Pseudomonas and Klebsiella) infections(treated with Meropenem & Colistin). Wanted to understand management/treatment of perforated & gangrenous gallbladder. Also wanted to understand(to aware others) about the morbidity and mortality associated with Perforated & gangrenous Gallbladder. |

Dear Ankit We are really sorry to hear about your condition. The management of perforated and gangrenous gall bladder is the removal of the gall bladder with the drainage of all the pus. It should be facilitated with proper Antibiotics and a proper post operative I.C.U care . The mortality in the perforated and gangrenous gall bladder is quite high. With Regards Dr Rahul |
