You should go for TURP for your prostate surgery. Transurethral resection of the prostate is also commonly known as as TURP. It is a urological operation. It is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). As the name indicates, it is performed by visualising the prostate through the urethra and removing tissue by electrocautery or sharp dissection. This is considered the most effective treatment for BPH. This procedure is done with spinal or general anesthetic. A triple lumen catheter is inserted through the urethra to irrigate and drain the bladder after the surgical procedure is complete. Outcome is considered excellent for 80-90% of BPH patients. TURP is one of the most effective choices for treating an enlarged prostate, a condition also called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). To determine whether TURP or another treatment methods are the best choice for you, your physician will consider how severe your symptoms are, the other health issues you've, and the size and shape of your prostate.
Before doing any enlarged prostate procedure, your physician might want to perform a test that uses a visible scope to appear within your urethra and bladder (cystoscopy). This allows the doctor to check the size of your prostate and look at your urinary system. Your physician could also want to do other tests, for example blood tests or tests to measure the flow of urine.
