Dear Sir/Madam. My name is Ulkis and i am from Greece. I recently underwent a laparoscopic surgery to remove the gall bladder (due to two formed stones). The surgery went OK apart from a technical problem: During the final stages of the operation the tip of a surgical hook broke. The doctors could not find the hook with camera so they X-Ray-ed me. Unfortunately they could not remove it (without open surgery) so they decided to leave it inside me. Based on your professional expertise and experience, do you believe that this is dangerous for me and I should remove it anyway? Thank you in advance, |

Dear Dr Ulkis The broken tip of hook should be tried to be removed with the help of C arm but as now surgery fail so now nothing should be done and with and watch theory should be adopted. repeat ultrasound should be done after few month. In most of the cases nothing will done and this piece of steel get surrounded by fibrotic tissue and will remain dormant. With regards M.K. Gupta |
