Hello Doc. I am 30yrs old & no children. Since last 2 yrs I have acute unbearable abdominal pain on left side during ovulation ( i.e. for continuous 15 days). Pain stops as periods start. Except pain no other mensural problem. My USG report says - bulky uterus, multiple sub-serosal seedling fibroids(13mm), mild adenomyosis and left ovary adherent to uterus. what is the cause of pain - fibroids or adhesion or both? what is the treatment ? will laproscopy permanently cure the adhesion ? Can I become pregnant? plz help I am bearing this pain every month since 2 years but no remedy.

Dear Rizwana

Adenomyosis is a common condition most often diagnosed in middle-aged women. Some studies also suggest that women who have had prior uterine surgery may be at increased risk for adenomyosis. Though the cause of adenomyosis is not known, studies have suggested that various hormones including estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, and follicle stimulating hormone may trigger the condition.
Treatment for adenomyosis depends in part on your symptoms, their severity, and whether you have completed childbearing. Anti-inflammatory medications are used to treat the adenomyosis. You may get prescription of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve mild pain associated with adenomyosis.

You can get pregnant even after having adenomyosis. As far as left ovary is concerned. The laparoscopic surgery is the good option to remove this adhesion.

With regards
