Discussion in 'All Categories' started by Hemant - Mar 2nd, 2013 12:03 pm.
Dear Sir/Madam,
My father is suffering from the Gallstone problem. He is Seventy years old. In his report the gall bladder is contracted and the size of gallbladder is almost 5mm due to swelling. He wants to go for Laparoscopic surgery but someone suggested that it is better to go with open surgery. He has benn told that sometimes Laparoscopic surgery does not work well due to contracted gall bladder and if Laparoscopic surgery is done,it should be done by a well experienced doctor. Kindly suggest me a well experienced doctor in Agra ,Uttarpradesh.

Thanks a lot

Dear Hemant

Please keep in mind that preoperative clinical parameters associated with a high risk of failure at laparoscopic cholecystectomy, like a contracted gallbladder on ultrasound, gallstone pancreatitis, and a previous history of upper abdominal surgery. Factors that did not predict failure were: an ultrasound report of a thick gallbladder wall, morbid obesity, or acute cholecystitis. It is concluded that laparoscopic cholecystectomy is technically feasible in most patients in the hand of experienced surgeon like at World Laparoscopy Hospital, but those having the above-mentioned risk factors should be warned of a higher than usual chance of conversion to open cholecystectomy.

With regard
