I wish to inform you that I am suffering from cholelithiasis. When I consulted a Gastroenterologist in 2009, he advised me to take the abdomen scan. After the test was taken, the report says that I am suffering from gallstone problem. Since then, I have been consulting the aforesaid doctor to know about the latest condition of it. The doctor says that my gallstones are asymptomatic. But I have abdominal bloating, acidity and constipation. When I asked my doctor if any surgical intervention is required, he advised me to undergo the laparoscopic surgery if I have unbearable pain at the right side of my rib cage. To be honest, I don't have any unbearable pain except a few irritating complications, as mentioned above. My query is: what are asymptomatic gallstones? If they are asymptomatic, why do I have problems like abdominal bloating, acidity and constipation? Are there any symptoms for asymptomatic stones in the physiological functioning of the body? In 2009, my problem began with 'sludge' in the gallbladder. In 2017, The size of the gallstone is 1cm. Presently, there are multiple calculi largest measuring 1 cm (10mm) My gallbladder What is your advice for my never-ending problem? I was told that even If I undergo the cholecystectomy, there are many post-surgical complications after the laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Frankly, I want to avoid this surgery, as I have seen the post-surgical complications in the patients, who happen to be my close relatives and friends. |

Dear Piyush You have a gall stone. A gall stone is a stone formed within the gallbladder out of bile components. The term cholelithiasis may refer to the presence of stones in the gallbladder or to the diseases caused by gallstones. Most people with gallstones (about 80%) never have symptoms. In 1–4% of those with gallstones, a crampy pain in the right upper part of the abdomen, known asbiliary colic, occurs each year. Complications of gallstones include inflammation of the gallbladder, inflammation of the pancreas, and liver inflammation. You need to go for the surgery to get rid of it. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the surgery of choice. In this the small holes are made in the abdomen through which the instrument and telescope are passed and the surgery is carried out. You don't need worry about the complication because surgery is important as your size of the stone is increasing and it can be harmful. With Regards Dr Rahul |
