Hi Sir! My wife is suffering from excessive vaginal bleeding for last 6 years. We have tried all the medicine but nothing works. Now our OBG has told about hysterectomy. Dear K Subramanyam It seems that your wife is suffering from the dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Your OBG has suggested you the right thing. A laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove the uterus. A small incision is made in the navel through which a tiny camera is inserted. The surgeon watches the image from this camera on a TV monitor while performing the procedure. Two to three other tiny incisions are made in the lower abdomen. Through these, specialized instruments are inserted and used for the removal process. The advantages are there is minimum scar, hospital stay is shorter, recovery is faster. Dear Pradip Laparoscopic surgery has so many advantages over open surgery. Its not in the case of hysterectomy only but also in other general surgery. Some of them are -Less stay in the hospital - Minimal Incision so less painful in the postoperative period - Less time for recovery - The scar is smaller so important from a cosmetic point especially for ladies |
