|Recently i had laparoscopic hernia surgery in Amritsar, Panjab to correct an umbilical hernia. After this laparoscopic surgery I had tremendous pain afterwards that blasted a great week. I am now 6 weeks post surgery and am experiencing constant pain in the region throughout my navel.
The surface of the skin over the umbilicus is very tender. It look like having a significant sunburn. I am also suffering from mild to sever pain from my navel and also toward my right side of abdomen. This abdominal pain downward toward my groin around the left. The laparoscopic surgeon saw me about 3 weeks ago after i was still complaining of pain and explained after in regards to a 2 minute exam and explained it looks fine will be alright after few month. I am completely confused. Please advice.

In laparoscopic umbilical hernia repair the defect is covered with a mesh and this is fixed with tackers. Sometimes there is nerve entrapment in the tackers which causes pain. This pain normally subsides within four to six weeks. So you can visit your surgeon and confirm from him if he has used tackers. You can also take a second opinion, or visit us if possible.

|Dear Mr. Singh,
If already it is more than 6 week than I will suggest you to cet one ultrasiund done. This ultrasound will tell the raadiologist if there is some collection just below the skin of umbilicus. In case of umbilical hernia by laparoscopy sometime seroma also form. Please ask for the video of the surgery from your doctor if he has made one for you. Seeing the video of the surgery can help us a lot to understand the cause of pain and to decide the proper management.
Wishing you all the best
