I have been diagnosed with fibroids (likely to be pedunculated) over 36 weeks in size. My doctor has recommended a laparatomy but I'm keen to assess what all my options could be. I'm 28, yet to have children so keen to preserve fertility. I have taken various tests - FSH, HSG xray, etc and I have normal levels and open tubes. My uterus cavity is also showing on the xray as normal. I have no symptoms associated with my fibroids - no heavy bleeding, pain or anything. In recent months there is a bit of pressure so find it difficult to lie flat on my abdomen now. I'm really keen to see the best option for removing the fibroid and conserving my ability to have children. |

Dear Dinah Hanson Pedunclulated fibroid can be easily removed by laparoscopy and can be morcelated. Although Subserous pedunculated myomas, unless large enough to cause symptoms, do not need to be removed prior to pregnancy. There is also no evidence in literature that subserous fibroids interfere with conception or increase the miscarriage rate. Butas your age is less you should get this fibroid removed.
