Dear Doctor,
I was operated for bleeding excessive during Menses in Chittorgarh by a good gynecologist. After one week of surgery the watery discharge started and when I consulted again I was informed that I have Vesico-Vaginal Fistula.

This complication developed by Total Laparoscoic Hystrectomy. I want to know that can I get my fistula repaired by laparoscopic surgery and what is the success rate. Thanks.

Dear Renu Sinha
The location of the vesicovaginal fistula has bearing on the success of laparoscopic repair and the high vesicovaginal fistulas can be efficiently repaired by the Laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic and robotic surgery typically results in less harm to organs and surrounding tissue. Laparoscopic VVF repair is feasible in expert hand and may result in lower morbidity, shorter hospital stay, and quicker recovery than the abdominal open surgery fistula repair or transvaginal approaches.

As you have asked about success rate so please keep in mind success depends on many factors including the size of fistula, location of fistula, age of the patient, Surgical skill of the operating surgeon and if any comorbidity of the patient.

Wish you all the best.

With regard
