|A recent CT scan indicated that I have an ovarian cyst 5.6 cm... 7 yrs ago it was 2.0 cm. I had been having severe abdominal/pelvic pain which went away with an antibiotic. However, I scheduled an appt. with a local GYN who I had not seen before. She is experienced in robotic surgery. She told me that I needed to have the cyst removed using robotic surgery and that she would also removed the ovaries. (I am 68 yrs old and had a partial hysterectomy 30 yrs ago). She also indicated that she feels I need the surgery right away as I am at risk of the ovary torquing. (I had wanted to wait for about 2 1/2 months due to a scheduled trip).
In your opinion, is waiting for 2 1/2 months out of the question?
ALSO... I am most concerned about the recovery time... the doctor told me that there would be about a 2 week recovery time. Is this realistic? From what I'm reading from patient testimonials, many are having much longer recoveries. I'm away that at age 68, my body probably won't bounce back as quickly as it did 30 years ago when I was back at work 30 yrs ago after the hysterectomy. What can you tell me about recovery time and the recovery process, i.e., limitations to activities, side effects, limitations on mobility, etc.

|Dear Pat Ezell
The recovery depends on the persons individual capacity of healing and without seeing the CD of your robotic surgery and Operative note we can not predict the recovery time.
