Dear Dr Onome Orumeteme Fibroids are non-cancerous (benign) tumors that grow from your muscle layers in the uterus (womb). They are also generally known as uterine fibroids, myomas, or fibromyomas. The singular of uterine fibroids is Uterine Fibroma. Fibroids are growths of smooth muscle and fibrous tissue. Fibroids can differ in space, from exactly what a bean to as huge as a melon. Fibroids affect at the very least 20% of all women at sometime during their life. Women aged between 30 and 50 are the most likely to formulate fibroids. Overweight and obese women are at significantly the upper chances of developing fibroids, when compared with women of normal weight. If your woman doesn't have symptoms and the fibroids are not affecting her day-to-day life she may receive no treatment at all. Even women who have heavy periods and whose lives are not badly suffering from this symptom can also select no treatment. In the menopause symptoms will most likely dwindle apparent, or disappear altogether because fibroids usually shrink during this period of the woman's life. The fibroids are surgically taken out of the wall from the uterus. This option is a lot more popular for women who would like to become pregnant (instead of a hysterectomy). Women with large fibroids, along with those whose fibroids come in particular elements of the uterus will not be capable of take advantage of this action. With regard J S Chowhan |

RobbieAmen. If a doctor tells us sthoeming that doesn't make sense, we should get a second opinion. I had mine removed (4 hours of surgery laparoscopic) at 31. They had been growing since I was 27. My mom and aunt also had surgery to remove them in their 30s. So I knew they weren't going away. Was waiting and walking around looking pregnant for no good reason! Get them out and ask for a diet (low in flour, sugar, caffiene) that will help slow future growth. A good nutritionist may be better than a doctor for this type of condition. |
