My age is 52 year and I was bleeding for 3 month. My gynecologists adviced me PAP smear examination. In that examination resut came as I have Grade 1A cervical cancer. Sir, I want to know that what is the future outlook or my type of cancer with standard treatment? Are there any other treatments that might be appropriate for my type of cancer? What treatment do you recommend? With regard, Mumtaz |

Dear Mumtaz Begam The most common treatment for early stage cervical cancers is radical hysterectomy (surgical removal of the cervix and uterus). The alternative is radiation therapy, which is usually given in combination with chemotherapy. Some patients with the earliest stage cervical cancers can be treated with cervical conization or simple hysterectomy alone. The treatment is more aggresive in the earlier stages because of possibility of achieving the cure. Thanks with Regards Dr J S Chowhan |
