Dear Doctor,

I am suffering from Gallbladder Stone. What precaution I should take in these days of COVID 19? Should I go for surgery during this corona pandemic or should I wait? I am suffering from epigastric pain occasionally.

Dear Neha

The rapidly expanding novel coronavirus pandemic, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus, has challenged the surgeons to an unprecedented degree. Patients, as well as operating surgeons, are at added risk of exposure and infection during the course of patient care. Because of the rapid spread of this disease through respiratory droplets, health care workers who come in close contact with the upper aerodigestive tract during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

In my opinion, you should consult a local physician and treat yourself conservatively until the corona crisis is over. Once the situation becomes better after a few months then you should consider surgery.

Will I have the risk of getting COVID 19 if I will go for cholecystectomy. Should I wait for surgery as I don't have symptoms of Gallbladder Stone?

If you don't have symptom of Gallbladder stone at present. I will advise you to wait for some time. Once Pandemic is Over you should come to WLH and we will do Laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, If acute cholecystitis happens you can come in an emergency.
