|I was wondering if I could get your professional opinion on a matter .
I spoke with you in the past as I am a Canadian male 34 years of age with a history of reoccurring adhesions on the sigmoid colon. I have had adhesions on the sigmoid and other areas but the only adhesions that reoccur were the sigmoid and it was the most dense of my adhesions in the first place .
I have had a total of 5 lysis of adhesions each bringing a period of relief but reoccurring each time with fewer periods of relief each time .
My last operation for lysis of adhesions was July 28, 2020 where my sigmoid was kinked and fused with 21cm of adhesions to the pelvic sidewall.
My adhesions have always been dense either fusing the sigmoid completely or causing a kink or twist of the sigmoid colon
My question is a surgeon recommended a sigmoid resection due to the reoccurrence of the adhesions on the sigmoid and the fixed kinks and loops it causes that gives me chronic obstructive symptoms and pain
I was wondering if a sigmoidectomy
Might be beneficial to help improve my quality or your opinion on such matter as lately I have done a lysis it just seemed to get kinked and fused back

|Dear Tinda Reski
If your adhesion or kinking is not responding to other treatments - such as medication - or you have severe pain or damage to your sigmoid colon then sigmoidectomy surgery may be needed. Sigmoidectomy surgery can be carried out either through open surgery or laparoscopic or robotic surgery. The type of surgery you receive will depend on your circumstances and the surgeon you have. It should be discussed with you prior to your operation.
