I had a cyst on my armpit a couple of years ago. I went to a doctor,he adviced me to remove it surgically. Surgery was done six months ago.One month after the surgery I have visited the doctor because of the pain. Now I have already followed some oral antibiotics and a cream. but sometimes it gives me a pain and the colour of the wound is still red, sometimes i can see some white coloured thick liquid coming out when i put pressure on the wound. How long will it take to heal completely. Will there be any problem if i use deodorants again . please advice me |

Dear Upeka De Silva There are 3 main techniques for the removal of sebaceous cysts: traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision. For big cysts which have never become inflamed or ruptured, I favor the minimal excision technique because it’s likely that I’ll be able to take away the entire capsule with minimal scarring and faster healing times. Also, for cysts on the face, this method creates a better cosmetic result due to the significantly smaller scar. However, for any cyst that has ruptured internally, has been expressed manually in the past, or recurs following minimal excision, I've found traditional wide excision to become best. During these scenarios, it is very time-consuming and often impossible to get rid of the whole capsule using the minimal excision technique. With regards M.K. Gupta |
