This is one of my patient she is 35 years old lady incidently diagnosed to have gall stones. I am confused because silent stones disease is not an indication for surgery but she is planning to have pregnancy and want to get rid of gall bladder to avoid possilble risk of having symptoms during pregnancy. I have searched literature but could not find any indication to operate such cases. Please help me to solve this issue.

Dear Dr Rehman
You will search on Google TO OPERATE OR NOT TO OPERATE ON ASYMPTOMATIC GALLSTONES IN LAPAROSCOPY ERA you will see the article published by DR Fiaz Maqbool Fazili

Despite unrealistic, gall stones seldom disappear spontaneously. Statistics show that each year thousands of people have their gallbladders removed. Even today, only surgery from the gallbladder (laparoscopic/open cholecystectomy is treatment of choice) guarantees the patient will not suffer a recurrence of gall stones. The benefits of surgical removal of the gallbladder over non-surgical treatment would be the elimination of gallstones, and the prevention of gallbladder cancer.
