I've had 3 hernia surgeries on my right side, the first open surgery produced so much scar tissue, my nerves were trapped and i screamed and cried non stop for 6 months, found a dr to give me scar injections got some relief, this was 2005-2006, scar injections gave relief, but hernia was torn and needed repaired in 2008, again in 6 months because of scar tissue pain and my tissues were stretched, 3rd surgery dr did some nerve excision and that side totally was free from pain but in 2011 i pulled something with my hands and something felt like it tore now im in pain, but dont want to get tore up again by an open surgery. I would like a laproscopic approach this time, Advice?

Dear Leri Tremmel
For recurrent hernia laparoscopic surgery is considered gold standard. During laparoscopic surgery, Laparoscopic Surgeon make a small 10mm cut within the skin in the umbilicus and two 5mm. A cannula is introduced in between muscle fibres without cutting the muscle. With the cannula, the laparoscope is inserted into the patient's body. It is designed with a little camera and light source that allows it to transmit images through a fibre-optic cord to a television monitor. The monitor shows a higher resolution magnified image. The surgeon is capable of doing the surgery watching monitor. This way, the already weak muscles are not disturbed and the net is placed through the half inch holes that are from the hernia. Thus there's minimal disturbance to the normal body physiology and as a result the pain is minimal and incredibly little rest is needed. Also the hernia that's heading out from the tummy is retracted in instead of pushed in from outside out of the box completed in an 'open' operation. There are more and much more reports now in the America and Europe showing the success of laparoscopy in reducing post operative pain, rest and recurrence rates specially in recurrent hernia.
So we will recommend you laparoscopic surgery.
With regard
Sadhana
