My mom,66yrs old,32kg.Stenting was done.in Oct 2011 and June 2012 due to first one blockage.CeA is 31,CA19.9 550.Nowadays given prednisolone 1 Tab and Folic acid 1 tab.Nov 2011,biopsy taken .it was benign.Another biopsy to be taken.Dont know yet.Please advice. |

Dear Saidah We are very sorry for the problem of your mother but keep in mind that another biopsy report is necessary to advice you further course of treatment. Stricture in CBD and PD and tumor in the head of pancreas all together is not a good news and sometime it is very difficult to treat. If the malignancy will be detected your mother may need whipple's procedure surgery. This Whipple's operation is the most common operations for cancers of the head of the pancreas that are suitable for surgery. This is major surgery. But these operations are not quite so difficult to get over as a total pancreatectomy. Because you will keep part of your pancreas, you may not need to take insulin. And you may not need to take enzymes to help you digest food. Anyway first of all we should wait for the investigation report. With regards J S Chowhan |
