Dear Rajni Purohit
It is 100 percent possible to perform dermoid cyst without damaging and even touching the precious mesh. We will enter with HD articulating Telescope (EndoEye) from palmer's point. Dr Mishra has extensive experience of doing these type of surgery.

An ovarian cyst is simply a collection of fluid within the normally solid ovary. There are many different types of ovarian cysts, and they are an extremely common gynecologic problem. Because of the fear of ovarian cancer, cysts are a common cause of concern among women. But, it is important to know that the vast majority of ovarian cysts are not cancer. However, some benign cysts will require treatment in that they do not go away by themselves, and in quite rare cases, others may be cancerous. A cyst may cause discomfort or may be discovered at the time of a routine examination, when you are feeling absolutely fine. The good news is that almost all ovarian cysts will go away by themselves without any treatment. Since the vast majority of ovarian cysts are benign, the presence of an ovarian cyst is a usually a non-worrisome occurrence.

With regards

In 2012 OB found a 2.5 cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary and 2 Uterine Fibroid. They've been monitoring and at my last checkup I was told that the cyst had enlargen to 4.5 cm. Also tumor markers CA19 was a bit elevated. I was referred to an Gynecologic Oncology, and I'm getting very concern. I read that the abnormal CA19 might be due to torsion. I really don't want to have surgery but if need be can this be removed with laproscopy? Why was I referred to Oncology, can it be the elevated CA19 might be sign of cancer? Please advise, this is really worrying me. thanks

Dear Nancy

Although CA19-9 as a marker for ovarian cancer: alone and in comparison with CA125 but at this stage you should not worry. Please get some more investigation done.
