Dear Shusmita Intramural fibroid are most common type of fibroid, it arises from the lining of the uterus (endometrium). If the fibroid is not causing any problem like excessive menstrual bleeding, infertility then you don't need to go for the surgery but if it is increasing in size, causing symptoms then you need to go for the surgery. The surgery will depend on if you want to preserve your reproductive or not, if you want to preserve your reproductive then myomectomy can be done, other wise TLH(total Laparoscopy Hysterectomy can be done). with regards Dr Rahul |

Hi I had a second ultrasound. Reports are: uterus is retro enter measuring 9.5x5.7x6.4 cm. there is heterogeneity in funds measuring 2.6x1.4cm query small fibroid. Seems to be a cyst in left ovary measuring 4.9 cm better seen trans-abdominally. I am having a follow up ultrasound next week, but want to know what they are looking for? What should I be asking them? When they say query fibroid does that mean they are questing whether it is a fibroid or could it be something else? Should I be concerned about cyst? Can that turn into cancer! Should it be removed? Dear Srilata Your ultrasound says that you have a fibroid which is small in size and a left ovary cyst which is also not very big, unless the cyst and the fibroid are not causing any symptoms you should not worried, but here i want to know your age?? i want to know your obstetric status?? because if this fibroid and cyst keep on increasing in size then it can affect your fertility and can produce different symptoms. So you need to mention that and if it is increasing in size or producing any symptoms then you should go for surgery, myomectomy for the fibroid and the cystectomy for the ovarian cyst. You can contact any good gynecologist or world laparoscopy hospital . With regards Dr Rahul |

Dear Ameen, The treatment includes: -Uterine artery embolization. Small particles (embolic agents) are injected into the arteries supplying the uterus, cutting off blood flow to fibroids, causing them to shrink and die. -Radiofrequency ablation. -Laparoscopic or robotic myomectomy. -Hysteroscopic myomectomy. -Endometrial ablation. |
