After long waiting due to COVID 19, I got the opportunity to take training in October 2021 at World Laparoscopy Hospital, India.
As a student in the Fellowship and Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery program, I gained both the skills and confidence to thoughtfully use a variety of practical approaches in my work as a laparoscopic surgeon. The courses in laparoscopic, instrument design, suturing and knotting, and dissection techniques were tremendous assets and are approaches I use regularly. The instructors in each course were patient, understanding, and highly skilled. I would highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to expand their skill in minimal access surgery or for anyone who needs a refresher on clinical experience with practical approaches. Fellowship and Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery course offered by World Laparoscopy Hospital, New Delhi, is a fantastic program that truly changed my career as a surgeon for the better! I reached a turning point in my gynecological surgical career when I realized I wanted a bigger challenge and to help my patients performing highly specialized laparoscopic surgery. Somebody told me to write down on a piece of paper everything I wanted to do, and see what aligns with my skills. The first thing I wrote down was “laparoscopic surgeon”. It was a perfect fit for me because I would have the opportunity to utilize my time and resources to learn laparoscopic surgery at World Laparoscopy Hospital.
Moving to Gurugram from Mumbai was a challenge. Initially, I had a hard time settling into my new life here because I had never lived away from home, and I was leaving my wonderful family and friends behind. Once I found accommodations and nice batchmates at WLH, I developed a routine and started to enjoy my time here. The faculty and students at the WLH are very friendly and were helpful in my transition. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in laparoscopic surgery with Dr. Mishra. I also got a chance of debating and mooting to develop my practical skills. It’s very stimulating to be surrounded by such brilliant individuals. I know I’ve made some life-long friends here. I love how welcoming the faculty and other students have been to me. Everybody has been incredibly patient as I’ve adjusted to moving to a new city and starting a school-like environment again. I feel like I’ve made some lifelong friends. I again want to thank all the faculties of WL Reply: Dear Dr. Smitha

Unfortunately, the pandemic stripped away my last year of training so I haven't been able to enjoy my experience as much as I anticipated. Furthermore, this year in In spite of the second wave COVID pandemic, the World Laparoscopy Hospital has always kept us informed with ongoing plans and events through emails but the experience just has not been the same and has sincerely impacted many student's mental wells being. If the pandemic didn't take place then my opinion would have been completely different but as of now, I haven't been really pleased with how this Hands-On training went well.
So far, I think studying and practicing laparoscopic surgery at the World Laparoscopy Hospital is worth my money. Reasonable price both in tuition fee as well as in living expense. I would recommend others to consider the training of laparoscopic and robotic surgery training here as well. Reply: Dear Dr. Abimbola

The content of the lectures, seminars, and Hands-On workshops, exposure to real patients in operation theatre are really helpful and will aid me in my future career as a laparoscopic surgeon, but I think that students could have had more contact hours than we got, sometimes there were only 2 lectures per day due to more surgical cases in the operation theatre.
My overall experience at World Laparoscopy Hospital has been wonderful! There have been times where I have wanted to sleep late at night because of the stress, But slowly I got accustomed to the Work culture of the institute, as my tutor and my lecturers have kept me going. Without their support and constant Zoom meetings - at any point of the day! - I would have most likely failed or been miserable. The course and its clinical content are brilliant, so engaging, and eye-opening, my perspective has changed completely! The stress is probably my own, not feeling prepared or equipped for a master's level education but as mentioned, through the support and communication with my personal tutor and lecturers I have been able to get through this master in minimal access surgery course. Reply: Thank you Dr. Miguel Ángel
Please accept our gratitude. As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them. We at World Laparoscopy Hospital will keep on doing good word for the training of minimal access surgery |
