Hi,

I am a gynecologist from Turkey wants to join the da Vinci Robotic Surgery training at your centre. My question is Is it safe for a woman to travel alone in India? India is a massive nation, with a deeply entrenched, ancient culture currently in the throes of great change. It is, to me, the most fascinating place on earth right now but I feel little afraid coming alone.

Dear Dr Nevra,

Although exceptions are everywhere but In India, women occupied a very important position, in fact a superior position to, men. It is a culture whose only words for strength and power are feminine -"Shakti'' means "power'' and "strength.'' All male power comes from the feminine. You will get overwhelmingly good experiences in India. There are almost everywhere warm, hospitable and helpful people in India, and they are by far the majority.

I will suggest that the attitude you take when you travel in India will influence your experience, in my opinion try and have a positive and confident attitude. Be cautious, use common sense, but try and keep your fear in check once you are in India.

Once you reach World Laparoscopy Hospital then your safety is our responsibility. You will feel that you are at home. You will even get your countrymate also. We have more than 60% of the doctors coming for training for outside India and you will get a true international gathering at World Laparoscopy Hospital.

Indian press and media speak a lot as they have freedom of expression. India’s vibrant media is one of the freest in World and they highlight anything without any fear. So in my opinion don't go with the news what you see. The women are completely safe in India. It is a huge country will second largest population in the World so few incidences are normal.

Do you know The National Crime Victimization Survey of USA, based on projections from a national sample survey, says that at least 248,300 individuals in USA were raped or sexually assaulted in 2007, up from 190,600 in 2005, the last year the survey was conducted. The study surveyed in USA 73,600 individuals in 41,500 households. Among all violent crimes, domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault showed the largest increases.

So don't worry as compared to other country India is very safe. People here is very cooperative and they respect the guest like GOD.

Dear Dr Nevra,

I will not comment upon how safe India is for Women but it is as safe as any other good country. People of India respect women. I am not in the position to compare it with other country but once you are at our institute this is our responsibility to provide you complete safety. We have at Cyber city very safe environment as cyber city is one of the most happening place in India. The DLF Cyber City delivers global standards of MNC offices accommodation with our hospital and is only a 10-minute drive to Delhi International Airport. 24 hour police patrolling is there because thousands on young girls are working day and night in different computer calling centers and offices in cyber city. All the big companies of the World has its main office in cyber city like: Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Cannon, Ericsson, Sony, Nokia and many more. If it is not safe for girls how can these multinational company work and survive. Our hospital is in main middle of cyber city and I dont think any place is in World is as safe as Cyber City. Although anything can happen anywhere. If the twin towers of New York's original World Trade Center is not secure and it can be destroyed than where we are?

With regard

Hi Vinay!

Of course you can bring your family so that they can visit Delhi. But I am afraid they will allow your wife to attend the training program for free. Good Luck !!
