Hi sir,
I want to know which one is a better buy. Transenterix or Intuitive Surgical's Da vinci. I have heard that Trans Enterix Robot is much better than da Vinci and they have emerged as a strong competitor of intuitive surgical.

Thrasenterix has launched patient side single incision surgical Robot. It is different from Da Vinci. In da Vinci Robot you are not near the patient side rather you are seating on a console which can be any where. Even it can be technically in other country. The SurgiBot System of transenterix is designed to be a minimally invasive surgical platform where surgeon will be on the side of the patient and that allows multiple instruments to be introduced and deployed through a single incision. The flexible instruments is being controlled directly by the surgeon from inside the sterile field, with robotic assistance.

At TransEnterix has another robot which is claimed to be similar to da Vinci. It is believed that advancements in robotic surgery must build on the success of laparoscopy and address the limitations of current robotic systems, while providing a compelling economic value. ALF-X provides robotic benefits unavailable with other systems, with operational costs similar to many traditional laparoscopic procedures.

Although limited data is available to see the efficacy of Transenterix on patient so at this time I will suggest you to go for da Vinci Robot.

I think coming the new robot in market will definitely create a healthy competition and the cost of da Vinci robot will come down. It is good for us as a surgeon. Competition is not only the basis of protection to the consumer, but is the incentive to progress.
