Dear Dr Menka

Hopkins in 1953 has first invented Rigid rod lines laparoscope. It is also called Hopkins rod lens system. It is an endoscopic telescope in which the air-containing spaces are present between the conventional series of lenses are replaced with glass rods which is basically a prism with polished ends separated by small "air-lenses. This Hopkins rod lens telescope also called as laparoscope transmits more light, yields greater magnification, and provides greater depth and breadth of field than conventional lens system

With regard

Only Olympus Endoeye does not have the rod lens and it is using chip on tip technology. he ENDOEYE FLEX is autoclavable, articulating 5 mm HD videoscope. The advanced chip on the tip enables bright, clear images, and Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) further enhances visualization of vessels and other tissues on the mucosal surface. The articulating tip of Endoeye telescope bend in all directions up to 100°, and the focus-free optical design provides greater depth of field, eliminating the need for manual focusing.
