For choledochal cyst what is good surgery?

For choledochal cyst which option is better Choledocoduodenostomy or Choledochojejunostomy. Please explain this and also I want to know the role of laparoscopy in the case of choledochal cyst. |

The results of the many studies confirm the good long-term results of both procedures. However, it suggests that Choledocoduodenostomy is preferable for choledochal cyst for two reasons: 1. It is technically easier and faster to perform than Choledochojejunostomy and, 2. Unlike Choledochojejunostomy Choledocoduodenostomy permits easy access to further endoscopic exploration or treatment if necessary. We have seen in our practice that the choledochoduodenostomy is a relatively simple operation with a low risk of cholangitis. |
