What energy source is better to perform TLH

Sir! I want to know which energy source is better if Total laparoscopic hysterectomy is to do. Our hospital has both, Ligasure as well as Harmonic scalpel but I want to use only one of them. If one has to use for this surgery then which energy should be used. |

For hysterectomy ligasure is better instrument than harmonic scalpel. In total laparoscopic hysterectomy our mail concern is uterine artery and ligasure seals vessel upto 7mm. Harmonic scalpel is a good dissector but it is not a good vessel sealer. With the harmonic scalpel sometime uterine bleed. However, if you will coagulate uterine artery couple of time with simple bipolar and after that you can cut with harmonic scalpel. This way both will complement the effect of each other. because you have ask about only one instrument so my answer is Ligasure. |
