Dear Dr Avinash Kumar Singh

According to SAGES guideline Laparoscopy can be safely performed during any trimester of pregnancy.

Operative intervention may be performed in any trimester of pregnancy. Historical recommendations were to delay surgery until the second trimester in order to reduce the rates of spontaneous abortion and preterm labor.

Recent literature has shown that pregnant patients may undergo laparoscopic surgery safely during any trimester without any increased risk to the mother or fetus. Intraoperative CO2 monitoring by capnography should be used during laparoscopy in the pregnant patient.

There have been no reports of fetal demise for laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed during the first and second trimesters However, Isoflurane should be use as safe anaesthesia.
