Dear sir, Why the chronic inflammatory disease is relative contraindication un laparoscopic appendicectomy? I mean why considered as a contraindication? |

Chronic Inflammatory diseases like Miliary Tuberculosis, Crohn's Disease, ulcerative colitis, etc... have chances of severe adhesion, and doing laparoscopy in those cases is considered as a relative contraindication of performing laparoscopy. Please keep in mind that it is not an absolute contraindication. Once you have sufficient you can go ahead with laparoscopy. This chronic inflammatory process creates transmural invasion that can affect the entire gastrointestinal tract. Chronic inflammatory diseases can worsen the prognosis of this pathology. If you will take an extracorporeal knot it can cut through the base. Access is also difficult as there could be extensive adhesion. |
