Our first annual RAMSES meeting to be held in Orlando, Florida, November 4 – 6, 2011, is the first multi-specialty microsurgical gathering of its kind – with microsurgeons from varying fields: hand, plastics, reconstructive, ENT, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, vascular, orthopedics, pediatrics and peripheral nerve. To date, several hundred robotic assisted microsurgical procedures have been successfully completed at many institutions across the world. Large population-based study with a long and complete follow-up has indicated that cholecystectomy is associated with an increased risk of oesophageal adenocarcinoma. Causality cannot be proven by one study alone, but is supported by the significant association that appeared to increase with longer exposure time, the lack of obvious confounding (by obesity) or detection bias, the findings from previous research, and the likely biological mechanisms.  MORE

LGCP is a restrictive bariatric procedure similar to vertical sleeve gastrectomy without the need for gastric resection. According to Ramos et al, it is a bariatric procedure that brings together the benefits of food restriction while potentially reducing risks of complications associated with a permanent implant, such as a gastric band, along with minimizing the possibility of leaks from staple lines.  MORE
