My wife has Renal failure caused by Diabetes and is currently on dialisys.

As part of the tests that she needed to go for to approve her for
kidney transplant she had to undergo a VCU (Voiding Cystourethrogram)

During the procedure they detected that she has active left sided
vesico-ureteric reflux up to the lumcosacral junction.

I have read online that it is only a problem if the patient in
question has regular bladder infection because of it and that it can
only be treated by antibiotics.

My wife does not have bladder infection at all of late and a trip to a
specialist will cost us a lot.

I don't want to go and see a specialist if this is not really
neccesary and he is only going to tell us to manage it with
antibiotics.

I am basically asking a second opinion on whether you think we should
go see a specialist to treat this condition.

Dear Biswajeet Rai,
It is better to take a Nephrologist opinion because your wife condition is a chronic renal failure and in this condition various complication may arises if you not consulted to a nephrologist like Acidosis,Osteoporosis,Weight loss and muscle wasting, recurrent UTI.
