Dr M.K. Gupta
|Dear Sowmya Peddina
First you should check for your pregnancy test done. It is common that after ovarian cyst surgery there is irregularity.
The human body is highly efficient and treating itself and preventing things that cause pain. But in some cases, such as ovarian cysts, the human body is while alternate measures that aim to rebalance the hormone ratio and reduce the inflammation take slightly longer to kick in but usually last much longer.
This hormone imbalance may cause changes in the menstrual cycle, skin changes, small cysts in the ovaries, trouble getting pregnant, and other problems.
Hormones help regulate the normal development of eggs in the ovaries during each menstrual cycle. Polycystic ovary syndrome is related to an imbalance in these female sex hormones. Too much androgen hormone is made, along with changes in other hormone levels.
Weight, body mass index (BMI), and abdominal circumference are helpful in determining risk factors.
Levels of different hormones that may be tested include:
Male hormone (testosterone) levels
Other blood tests that may be done include:
Fasting glucose and other tests for glucose intolerance and insulin resistance
Pregnancy test (serum HCG)
Thyroid function tests
For these investigation you should consult your gynecologists.
