However, we got to know that the best solution for this condition could be the Whipple surgery and got to know about you via a freind of mine who is a doctor in Singapore.

I am Dayan from Sri lanka writing on behalf of my friend Nirosh Champika. Nirosh is having a pancreatic cancer histroty of almost one year. He is having medications in Sri Lanka for the time being.
His cancer was diagnosed in December of the last year and since then he was treating with various means including Chemotherapy. Actually Chemotherapy started several months ago and is being continued.
By last August (2011) his contidion has been improved (according to the doctors) with Chemotherapy and then he went to New Zealand to start his PhD. However, after few days he had the same problems as before. Then he retured to Sri Lanka two weeks ago and has undergone a surgery to put a stent in the duodenum (Which was blocked by the tumor). When we talk to doctors who are taking care of him, they say that there are no facilities available in Sri Lanka in order to treat his cancer (the ultimate solution seems to be a whipple surgery) and also we were adviced to go to some other country where more advanced facilities are available for this sort of cancers.
One of my friends (doctor) in Singapore suggested your institution is a good place for us and it accepts pateints from aborad as well. I would appreciate it if you could explain me how to make an appointment and explian the procedure to take him to India for treatments.
I understand that you need more information about his condition in order to figure out the possible treatments for him. I have the recent medical reports and can send them at your request. Please help us to save his life.

Dear Dayan Genegoda

We can perform Robotic Whipples procedure surgery for your friend. The operation is the most common surgical treatment for cancerous or benign tumors of the head of the pancreas. The procedure involves removal of the gallbladder, bile duct, part of the stomach and duodenum, and the head of the pancreas.

World Laparoscopy Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the world to offer the Robotic Whipple. Although the robotic procedure requires approximately the same amount of operative time as the traditional approach, patients derive numerous benefits, including less surgical trauma, less blood loss, less post-operative pain, fewer complications and a faster recovery. The addition of robotic surgery to the treatment of hepatopancreatobiliary disease marks a new era in the minimally invasive treatment of complex disorders of the liver and pancreas.

But before surgery we need to evaluate your patient that he is feet for this surgery or not. This complex procedure, also called a pancreaticoduodenectomy, involves the removal of the right side of the pancreas gland (the head, or proximal portion) along with some of the surrounding intestine and a portion of the bile duct. Robotic Whipple procedures are performed on a selective basis because of the anatomy involving this part of the pancreas. In cases where the robotic procedure is feasible, however, it provides a viable and minimally-invasive alternative to the open procedure, which requires a very large abdominal incision in order to access all the organs being operated on.

We want to request you to send all the report by email attachment and then we will discuss with our team of experts.

With regards

M.K. Gupta

I was diagnosed with ampullary cancer 2 weeks ago and would not want delay treatment. The biopsy indicates well differentiated adenocarcinoma.Cat scan indicate no other intrusions in organs. Please advise.

Dear Jarosz

The standard surgical approach is pancreaticoduodenal resection (Whipple procedure). The procedure can be done by open as well as laparoscopic approach and involves en bloc resection of the gastric antrum and duodenum; a segment of the first portion of the jejunum, gallbladder, and distal common bile duct will be removed; the head and often the neck of the pancreas; and adjacent regional lymph nodes.

We can perform this surgery by da vinci robot at World Laparoscopy Hospital.

With regards

J S Chowhan
