I have to undergo abdominoplasty surgery. Can I have any kind of pain during or after the surgery? If yes, how can it be controlled? |

Yes, you may feel some pain or discomfort after abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery, but doctors manage it well. Here’s what you need to know in simple words: During Surgery: You will be given anesthesia, so you won’t feel any pain during the operation. After Surgery: It's normal to feel some pain, tightness, or soreness in your stomach area. Pain may last for a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on your body and how much surgery was done. How Pain Is Controlled: Pain Medicines – Your doctor will give you painkillers (like paracetamol or stronger medicines) to reduce pain. Drain Care – If drains are placed, proper care helps avoid infection and pain. Compression Garment – You will wear a special belt or garment that supports your tummy and reduces swelling and pain. Rest and Movement – Gentle walking and rest as per doctor’s advice help in faster healing and less pain. Cold Compress – Sometimes, ice packs (as advised by your doctor) help in reducing swelling and pain. Important: Always take medicines on time and follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully. If the pain becomes severe, sharp, or doesn't improve, tell your doctor immediately. It could be a sign of complications. In short: Yes, you may feel some pain after the surgery, but doctors give proper treatment to control it and help you recover comfortably. |
